Position Summary
Provision of technical support, under supervision and guidance, between the office and the managed fleet on the following areas:
– Repairs, dry-dockings, and shipbuilding activities
The candidate should be familiar with their assigned vessels regarding:
– Type, main particulars, flag, class, general condition
– Technical operations
– Long-term projects such as major repairs and dry dockings (under supervision)
Responsibilities
– Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the characteristics and condition of all vessels in the fleet
– Support Fleet Superintendents in evaluating the maintenance status and machinery performance of vessels
– Regularly review the status of fleet vessels, including:
• Work Order Failures (defect reports) through the NS PMS
• Outstanding maintenance tasks
– Support the Technical Superintendent in verifying the completion of maintenance tasks in the PMS by:
• Reviewing findings
• Reviewing supporting documentation
• Archiving and closing the task
– Maintain important records for each vessel or project, including:
• Vessel particulars
• Newbuilding records
• Major repairs and dry-dock documentation
– Correspond with assigned vessels on technical matters and manuals, analyze communications and present findings accordingly
Required Qualifications / Experience
– Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, or equivalent shore-based experience in a similar role
– Proficient in computer use (Excel, MS Project, Internet)
– Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken
– Teamwork and organizational skills, initiative, and ability to meet deadlines
