The aim of the Ship Design Laboratory of NTUA is to advance education and research of various disciplines of the concurrent engineering approach to ship and marine vehicles design/operation and of the management/logistics/economics of maritime transport.
The activities of NTUA-SDL are reflected through its strong participation in NTUA's School of Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering under- and postgraduate program, its participation in a large number of funded national and international (EU funded) research projects, the organization of postgraduate schools, workshops and international conferences, the publication of research results in peer-reviewed scientific journals, books, conference proceedings and technical reports, the contributions of its members to national and international bodies.

Μελέτες, σχεδιάσεις, βελτιστοποιήσεις συμβατικών και πλοίων νέας τεχνολογίας, ανάπτυξη και βελτιστοποίηση ναυπηγικών γραμμών, αξιολόγηση ασφάλειας πλοίων, πορίσματα ναυτικών ατυχημάτων, ανάπτυξη βάσεων δεδομένων και λογισμικού, ανάπτυξη κανονισμών και προτύπων, ανάπτυξη εκπαιδευτικών εργαλείων.
